Here at Patricia’s Couture, we know that caftans are the way to go. But is it only here? Is it only us, just because our beautiful pets (or Patricia’s Chauncey) are gracing our caftans? It appears that we are not alone!
The Wall Street Journal’s fashion section recently featured an article by Christine Whitney entitled Consider the Caftan: Vacation-Dressing Made Easy. In the article, Ms. Whitney talks vacation wear, specifically the caftan as vacation wear, and is in agreement with us – caftans are the way to go!
Caftans were made popular in the 60s and all the fashionable people were wearing them – socialites, actresses…even Jackie Kennedy wore them! In the 70s, they fell from grace a bit, and were made famously dowdy by the Mrs. Roper character in the popular television show, Three’s Company. But now, they’re back, better and more fabulous than ever!
It appears that others are seeing what our Patricia Altschul sees in these amazingly versatile outfits. As vacation wear, there is no equal. They are easy to transition from poolside to dinner table. They can go over a bathing suit while you are sunning yourself. Then, just add some jewelry and a change of shoes and they are perfect at any evening gathering.
The right caftan flows and accentuates the positive. It’s an elegant garment that calls to mind images of glamour. It’s why our Patricia wears them and offers them for sale and why you should dress up your vacation days, whether a stay-cay or resort vacation, with a fabulous caftan of your own.
